Regenerative & Injection Care

Ozonated Therapies in Spokane & Medical Lake

Ozonated therapies represent some of the most advanced regenerative injection techniques available today — and Essential Health Group is at the forefront. Dr. Wellwood has developed his own proprietary ozonated techniques over years of clinical practice, combining the power of ozone with PRP, perineural injections, and dextrose solutions to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the body’s own stem cells. Studies show prolozone and ozone injections work between 61% and 96% of the time, with an average of just four treatments needed.

Our techniques

Four Regenerative Injection Approaches — All Under One Roof

There are generally three to four recognised types of regenerative injection therapy. At Essential Health Group, we have focused our offering on the techniques we believe are best suited for the general public — those with the strongest evidence base, the lowest risk profile, and the most consistent results across a wide range of conditions.

Prolozone — Medical Ozone Injections

Prolozone works by stimulating the body’s own stem cells — the cells that actually repair damaged tissue. It does this by saturating the treatment area in oxygen, which acts as an anti-inflammatory by activating something called Nrf2. When Nrf2 is activated, it reduces the pro-inflammatory protein NF-κB. The result is anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, and pro-stem cell regeneration — all triggered by a single ozone injection. Studies show prolozone works 61%–96% of the time, with an average of just four treatments needed.

PRP — Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP achieves similar end results to prolozone — regeneration of damaged tissue and stimulation of stem cell repair — but through a different mechanism. Your own blood is drawn, spun down, and the platelet-rich buffy coat layer is injected into the treatment area. The growth factors in the platelets then stimulate tissue repair. PRP can be used for facial aesthetics to create collagen, or for tendons, muscles, and ligaments to stimulate healing and restore function.

Ozonated Dextrose — Dr. Wellwood's Technique

Ozonated Dextrose is Dr. Wellwood’s own proprietary technique, combining ozone with perineural injections. Rather than using the traditional Prolozone carrier of saline, lidocaine, and B-complex, Dr. Wellwood uses B-complex and a 5% glucose solution combined with ozone. This refined approach targets peripheral nerve pain while harnessing the anti-inflammatory and regenerative power of ozone for enhanced and more targeted results.

Ozonated Platelets — A New Frontier

Ozonated Platelets is a new technique developed by Dr. Wellwood that combines the benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma with Ozone Infusions. The result is a dual-action treatment — PRP delivers increased growth factors to stimulate tissue repair, while ozone provides direct oxygenation that helps stimulate stem cells. Together, they offer a potential increase in healing capacity beyond what either therapy achieves alone.

Neural prolotherapy

Perineural Injections for Chronic Pain & Neuropathy

Neural prolotherapy, or perineural injection therapy, uses dextrose or other substances injected along peripheral nerves that have become over-stimulated — causing chronic pain syndromes such as neuropathies. The injected substance shuts down a pro-pain chemical called substance-P, reducing pain signals and allowing the damaged nerve areas to repair. The end result is a significant reduction in pain and restoration of normal nerve function — often in conditions that have not responded to any other treatment.

How ozone therapy works

When ozone (O3) is injected, it degrades into O2 and a single oxygen molecule. The O2 bathes the treatment area in healing oxygen, while the single molecule stimulates the growth of new tissue by encouraging fibroblast and chondrocyte creation. Ozone also stimulates the production of local Tumor Necrosis Factor, which inhibits the growth of cells causing disease — acting as a mild local irritant that triggers the body’s own regenerative response to stabilise weak joints and repair damaged tissue.

What to expect

Response to Treatment — What the Science Says

Response to ozonated therapy varies from person to person depending on underlying health and healing ability. Generally, the more pain a patient has and the more areas affected, the longer the treatment course. A new injury will often respond within a single treatment. Arthritis with bone-on-bone contact may require six or more sessions. If pain has been present for a long period of time, the body’s ability to heal properly can be reduced — meaning more time may be needed to fully recover.

Studies show prolozone and ozone injections are effective between 61% and 96% of the time, with an average of just four injections needed — all while you can continue to work, exercise, and live your normal life without extensive rehabilitation.

Ready to Experience the Healing Power of Ozone?

Whether you’re dealing with a new injury or years of chronic pain, our ozonated therapy team will assess your condition and recommend the most effective combination of treatments for your situation. Most patients see results in just four sessions — all while continuing to live their normal life.
