Where does ankle pain come from?

Ankle pain is a common complaint for many people.  This is because the ankle is an intricate network of bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles strong enough to bear your body weight and enable you to move.  Due to the intricacies of the make up of the ankle, it can be prone to injury and pain.

Inflammation or injury to any of the structures in the ankle; including the bones, joint space, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, or muscles will cause pain and sometimes swelling. Sprains and injuries; as well as other conditions like achilles tendonitis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, and other types of arthritis are all common causes for ankle pain.

Injury to any of the ankle bones, ligaments tendons, as well as some arthritis conditions can cause ankle pain. Pain may be on the inside or outside of your ankle or along the Achilles tendon, which connects the muscles in your lower leg to your heel bone. Although mild ankle pain often responds well to home treatments, it can take time to resolve. You should see your doctor for severe ankle pain, especially if it follows an injury.

Ankle Pain Treatments

Often times you can treat ankle pain with rest, ice packs, wearing correct supportive shoes.  When these pain remedies do not help, if the injury is severe or chronic its important to see a doctor.

When pain persists or is severe, regenerative medicine techniques like Ozonated Platelet therapy not only eliminate pain, but repair damaged ligaments and tendons.

Ozonated Platelet therapy is a new technique developed by Dr. Wellwood over the course of his career.  It combines the benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma with Ozone Infusions one regenerative medicine treatment that was newly developed  for ankle pain that at will heal the ligaments and tendons while eliminating pain.
